Year 12 Work Experience

Year 12 students should consider the possibility of undertaking work experience during their Enrichment Week, which is July 3rd-7th 2017. During this week students will either be participating in work experience or completing an enrichment project in the Academy. Both options are intended to offer students the chance to accumulate experiences which will support their career aspirations. If they wish to take the opportunity to complete work experience rather than an enrichment project, they do need to make that decision imminently.

LEBC has been organising work placements for students across Leicestershire for more than 20 years. Their website is www.leics-ebc.org.uk if you would like to find out more about what they do.The cost for your son/daughter to take part will be £57 per placement. For this price LEBC will:

  • Set up of the work experience placement trying to meet your son/daughter’s preference including workplace assessment of health, safety and welfare arrangements.
  • Send you a contract agreement which sets out the job description and generic young person’s risk assessment which your son/daughter will take to interview.
  • Should you wish to organise your own work placement LEBC will carry out the checks for a cost of £50.

All the forms are below, however, students can collect a hard copy of the application from Mrs Hall. LEBC have asked that initial applications be submitted by 12th December 2016 so they can begin the placement process.

Payment can be made by cheque, payable to Robert Smyth Academy, and should be handed with the application form to Mrs Hall.
Should you have any queries please contact Ms Kirk on lkirk@rsacademy.co.uk or Tom Ashton from LEBC (with questions about their service) on tom.ashton@leics-ebc.org.uk.
